The multimedia library at the Association Valentin-Haüy: new tools for the visually impaired
The Association Valentin-Haüy, which has been providing support for the visually impaired for over a century, opened its new multimedia library in January 2009. The new library brings together the association's Braille, audio, and large print collections in a single site. It provides improved access to the reading rooms, open shelving for users less in need of assistance, and specialist help for those who need it. It offers a wide range of services both on- and off-site, professional staff, a cultural programme adapted to the needs of users, partnerships with other organisms, and a lively outreach programme. It has already been hailed as a great success.
