Opening libraries up to careers, education, and training advice: the results of an experiment at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

The information centre at the Canal multimedia library in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines has been building up its collections in the fields of careers, education, and training since 2006. This article describes the information centre, its printed and digital resources, and its partnerships with other specialist centres and multimedia libraries across the wider urban area. It draws preliminary conclusions from the programme and looks at future perspectives for developing such services in multimedia libraries as a way of tackling increasing levels of social deprivation.
