Choosing performance indicators

Performance indicators give a clear and balanced presentation of data to allow staff to follow and predict library activity and thus to be in a better position to meet their objectives. While many individual library services use performance indicators, it is not so easy to design a set of performance indicators for the library as a whole, given that not only are the results to be measured very varied, but must also be presented in accordance with objectives that are themselves numerous, varied, and difficult to define.
