Standardising statistics and indicators: from inventories to evaluation

This article discusses the international standardisation of library statistics and the indicators used to evaluate them, arising from the need for uniformity as a basis for comparison, and the process of drawing up ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) standards by library professionals. It presents an overview of available tools, in particular ISO 2789 (international library statistics), ISO 11620 (library performance indicators), and standards currently in the process of being drawn up.
