Outsourcing book selection: a German experience

The budget cuts that followed German reunification led the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg young people’s central library in Berlin to outsource the selection of its acquisitions in order to focus on its role in the development of reading. The choice of a bookstore specialized in youth literature, which knows the district well, and the establishment of a detailed acquisition profile has ensured that both the library and the bookstore are fully satisfied with this partnership.
