A phoenix from the ashes: the Anna-Amalia Library, Weimar, Germany

Thanks to the largest and most successful operation of public support in the history of German libraries, which enabled the restoration, purchase and donation of books, the reconstruction of the building and the faithful restoration of the original decor, the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar reopened in October 2007, three years after the fire that caused serious damage to the building and its contents.
