Towards a Universal Digital Library

In order to provide access for all to the knowledge and information society, the European or Global Digital Library has to take into account the multiplicity of languages; and above all the disparity of their weight in the scientific and technical contest. To avoid an over representation of dominant languages and cultures, the author proposes a linguistic reconciliation between “colonizers and the colonized “, as well as search engines by families of languages, privileging a convergence of the different countries concerned.
