American public library portals

Thanks to the portals on their sites, American public libraries are tending to move from the rationale of distributing information (mainly bibliographical), which is identical for everybody, to the rationale of an exchange of information. This rationale, in a pragmatic fashion, allows members of the local community in all its diversity, to enjoy an improved life style, to study and to read on a daily basis.
