Public library research as seen through the theses in the English-speaking world

The authors of the article analyse public library research in English between 1994 and 2004, by comparing a review of the literature dedicated to research agendas with the theses that have been successfully defended during the same period. They identify nine areas of important research and note that there is no ideal relevance between the proposals of experts and the theses defended. As far as the methodology is concerned, a qualitative approach is predominant, notably in the analysis of content.
