Towards the conservation of regional web sites

The archiving of regional web sites will present numerous interesting possibilities for large municipal libraries and will enter the framework of their patrimonial and local missions. However, the conservation of sites still poses many technical, legal and financial problems. The constraints could be so serious that setting up a project of acquisition and conservation of sites at the level of a municipal establishment seems barely conceivable at the moment. However, other solutions are being taken into consideration. Collaboration between certain large municipal libraries and the Bibliothèque nationale de France undoubtedly seems the most interesting prospect at the moment.
