Acquiring creative products?

The acquisition of books in a library is a dangerous and worrying activity. The librarian responsible for it must defend himself against others (institutions and their boards of censors), but also against himself (against his own tastes and passions). Yesterday he tried to hide behind a more or less benevolent neutrality. Today some manuals are teaching that purchasing is a science that involves morality and sociology. It remains to be seen if this excess of precaution does not run the risk of setting up a bureaucracy (where, under the guise of “citizenship”, the “managers” will rule), and of installing, far from the dangers and scandals of the product, a sterile and politically correct culture.
