A new service for readers: the reproduction of books on request at the library of Troyes.

Many patrimonial libraries are confronted with a growing demand for the reproduction of old documents. Since 1999 the municipal library at Troyes, which has a regional remit, has offered a service of providing facsimiles, in paper or digital format, in partnership with Librissimo/Phénix Éditions. This article, which constitutes a first assessment, shows the advantages of the service for readers, for the library and for the publisher, points out the resulting difficulties, and reveals some perspectives of the evolution of techniques, in a setting where partnership will play an increasing role.
