The BiFi (1992-2001): heritage and management

The future of documentary collections on the cinema depends inevitably on the value added at the cataloguing stage. This depends partly on the continuous training of the staff, on increasing their skills as far as the history of the cinema is concerned (and the history of the cinema in its least known aspects), and in the diversification of services (information and documentary products for various types of users), also in raising the awareness of the various users about types of documents or documentary collections that French culture in the field has always tended to conceal. This is why the idea of a film patrimony cannot be considered as a fact, but rather as a growing thing; and why it depends consequently on practical forms of management.
