Electronic Services and Journals in Higher Education Teaching: A Synthesis of Somes Recent Inquiries into Usage

What is the current reality in the use of information technology in higher education teaching and research? Numerous inquiries have been carried out into its integration and usage in university teaching. In this article, which presents a synthesis of the most representative studies, it emerges that the use of networks is increasingly important for students as well as for teachers, that the use of e-mail is huge, but the practice of documentary research is relatively poor, and that the consultation of electronic journals, while still limited, is complementary with printed documentation, though distinctions clearly appear between researchers in the humanities and those in the sciences.
