Evaluating the Performance of Libraries: a New Standard

The iso has just published an international standard for library performance indicators. This standard, which has relied on existing manuals, is an essential tool for evaluating the quality of service rendered. The dialogue between librarians, users and decision-makers will, in effect, be facilitated by putting to work indicators allowing the consideration of the results of libraries projects and objectives. In this way, the performance indicators constitute a central element in a decision support system in the library.
