Subject Access in On-line Catalogues : the Case in University Libraries in France
This article presents the results of an inquiry carried out in 1997 on subject access in university libraries. Diverse issues are examined: the quality of documentary holdings, indexing strategies, research strategies offered, navigation and available aids. The author concludes with some suggestions for improving the conception of on-line catalogues.
