A multimedia experience : the catalogue of the Bibliothèque de Valenciennes

The multimedia catalogue of the Bibliothèque de Valenciennes allows the public to handle bibliographic records, images, sound and audiovisual extracts, and CD-Rom. Thanks to its most recent technologies, the information system is unified, the access to the encyclopaedic multimedia and patrimonial holdings larger and better structured. If its content favours curiosity and makes the research easier, its classical structure does not reopen the question of the methods of traditional library science description. However, with the networking of this document potential, other perspectives are sketched out, limited by the realization time and by the problems of rights or of hackers.
