The map library of the bibliothèque interuniversitaire scientifique Jussieu : future prospects

The growth of new mapmaking technologies such as geographic information systems and computer cartography obliges the libraries which develop collections of printed maps to reconsider their documentary policy. Several studies of this topic made at the map library of the bibliothèque interuniversitaire scientifique Jussieu led to the conclusion that printed form is not yet obsolescent, but remains fundamental as a medium of reference, even if the digitalization of printed maps appears more and more necessary.
