The Journal Citation Reports of The Science Citation Index : a study for the evaluation of the acquisitions of a specialized library
The national purpose of a specialized library in earth sciences, oceanography and terrestrial environment implies that this library has to be particularly aware of its cover in these domains, in which it has a peculiar responsability. The statistics of the Institute for scientific information, and notably the Journal Citation Reports on the citations of scientific periodicals, are useful, but there are other ways and other methods of evaluation.
