Educational imperatives of the future research library
Many efforts have been made to define the competencies that library and information science school graduates ought to have, but so far, efforts have not produced a cohesive set that can guide curricular development. This article proposes a set of competencies developed from an examination of the staffing needs of a model future research library. From these are derived elements that schools need to address in their programs, and strategies for change.
