The Biblioteca de Catalunya, gothic and renoved
The Biblioteca de Catalunya was founded in 1914, as an institution for preservation and diffusion of the bibliographical heritage but also as a modern reference library for research. Nowadays, with a million of documents storaged in more than 30 kms of shelves, it is reorganised according with the goal to play a best future function of preservation and diffusion of the collections. The plan concerning building strategy (1991-1995) links together organisation and space planning in five points : documents storage, research for general collections, research for special collections, technical work and management area and public area for diffusion.
