Books and reading in Seine-Saint-Denis

The Department of Seine-Saint-Denis considers its actions for books as one of the priorities in the field of cultural development. They actively help and sustain literary creation and the widening range of its public. Two unusual initiatives must be stressed : the yearly " Books for the Young Show ", and the invitation of subsidized writers (for 1 year). This department challenges the hierarchical tradition, and chooses to commission the municipalities. There are currently 3 missions involved : one of them is about the Books for the Young, and has enabled the opening in Bobigny of Seine-Saint-Denis Documentation centre of books for the Young ; The 2nd one deals with local current history, and the 3rd one with a contemporary literature collection.
