The library in underprivileged districts: a forum for renewal of individual skills
The author of the article, a sociologist, takes a critical look at the paradoxical position occupied by libraries in socially deprived areas, with the intention of liberating through culture the victims of social exclusion that are their inhabitants. Based on the case of Toulouse, her area of study, she examines the clients of suburban libraries, their processes and their expectations.
