Classification by interest

Librarians have elaborated a double system for accessing the document content: the classification structure and subject indexing help the reader to search both by subject and topic. Subject headings and class numbers are complementary and give him all the keys. But that intersection, which should meet all the interests, simply does not occur all times. First the users do not appeal to files, then they are often put out by the books arrangement according to the Dewey classification. If we think of the general public (which should be of the first concern in municipal libraries), access to collections should be organized according to his reading strategies and interests. In Great Britain, such an arrangement has been decided in some libraries, which has led to a higher use of documentaries. A similar project is under consideration in Grenoble.
