Towards an open science : interview

The concept of scientific culture outsteps the traditional idea of a one-sided popularization. We are now proceeding to a system based on identifications and exchanges. This system, while relying on scientific institutions already existing, is creating organisms like the "boutiques de sciences" (literally science shops) and also technical, scientific and cultural centers. The main objective is to assign a proper position to science and technique inside culture. Thus the book is not only the vehicle of knowledge, but also of analysis and reflexion which are two basic components of popularization. The two collections edited by J.-M. Lévy-Leblond -"Science ouverte" and "Points-sciences" - are grounded on this proceeding. Varying authors and critics (searchers, journalists more or less specialized) must help to abolish the partitioning of scientific books.
