The National Library of Medicine
This article is the report issued after a visit to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), in the hope of studying the role and activities of a national medical library. Its purpose is to show how NLM can teach us that, beside using computer technology and automatization, it is possible to establish a policy organizing the medical information, and the cooperation between libraries, if the need of such a philosophy and of its applications to rational management rules should be accepted
