Training Primary School Teachers and Children’s Literature: How a disaster unfolded
Are teachers, particularly primary-level teachers, trained in children’s literature? The article looks back at the recent history of the issue and concludes that the situation is a disaster for three reasons: the way nationwide teacher recruitment examinations have developed, how teacher training programmes are run, and a lack of interest on the part of future and recently hired teachers.
