Digital Humanities and libraries: a natural partnership

The aim of the present article is to introduce the notion of Digital Humanities by outlining the debate over its definition (discipline or transdiscipline?) and its sphere of activity (in terms of both production and diffusion), combining social science and the humanities and applied computer science. The article then looks at the key stakeholders and leading centres in the Digital Humanities, giving some examples of their work. It concludes with a brief look at the role of libraries in the Digital Humanities movement.
