ICT and attitudes to reading: a study of child readers' reception of an interactive library

The BIP (interactive education library) programme draws on RFID technology to develop a love of reading and learning in young children. The hypothesis behind the programme is that new technologies can enable children to learn to read in a new way, through technologies that are familiar to the younger generations. The article presents the various stages of the BIP project, from inception to implementation, looking at the stakeholders involved and assessing its impact, and exploring the role such innovations might play in the fields of culture and education.
