Bring in new readers? Fine, but when?!

Georges Perrin's 2008 report on opening hours for the General Inspectorate for Libraries criticised low opening hours in libraries across France, both in municipal libraries that offer short weekly hours and university libraries that are closed for long periods of the year. The shortcomings are especially flagrant in comparison with other European countries. Georges Perrin looks back at the main themes of his report and his proposals for extending opening hours to better meet the needs of readers, particularly Sunday opening. These principally involve reorganising duties and hiring more students to work in libraries.
