Heritage goes digital

The advent of digitisation in heritage libraries has radically changed the promotion, communication, and distribution of content, making it necessary to modify methods of collection management in order to meet the needs of new categories of users. Computerising catalogues, regional and national digitisation programmes, the drive for greater visibility in search engines, the collaborative and semantic web, and so on, are all concrete proof of profound change as heritage goes digital.
