Printed works on open access at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (The French National Library): an evaluation of their use

Open access to a wide range of documents is a central element in the documentary policy of the BnF, but this cannot be evaluated by using the standard tools. A technical device for evaluating use has been developed by Bruno Béguet, and transferred subsequently to the Bibliothèque publique d'information (Public Reference Library), which allows the two libraries to have comparative statistics. It was used at the upper garden level in 2000 and in 2004 at the lower garden level, with two distinctive purposes as the two levels are different in terms of documents, public and policy
