Parisian students and university libraries: the situation in literature and the humanities

From the results of a survey undertaken in 2003 for the Academy of Paris, the author analyses the cultural practices of Parisian students in literature and the humanities and their use of university libraries. If by and large the BU (university libraries) meet the students needs or will do under the objectives of the U3M outlines, their image still remains too closely linked to the services of a traditional reference library. Much effort will be required to develop the students IT information retrieval skills in the library.
