University library websites: evaluation and reference sites

With the massive invasion of universities of electronic material, university library websites are seeing a complete change in their documentary situation. Simple displays aimed until now at informing users about the services offered by the library have become tools for supplying a wealth of digital resources: that is, support for the service, and the service itself. But some powerful disparities exist between Anglo-Saxon and continental European countries, with France notably falling significantly behind. However, there are solutions for the better distribution of digital material, their viability depending on their visibility.
