Managing the human resources of libraries : the contribution of a demographic survey

During the year 2000 the Direction du livre et de la lecture of the ministère de la Culture et de la Communication piloted a demographic survey of library personnel, the first since the adoption of the new regulations for administrative officers of libraries concerning the public function of the State and the public territorial function of libraries in 1991 and 1992. Viewed from this descriptive angle, these enquiries support thinking about the projected management of employees and skills, to which all central administration is attached.
