The digitised still photographs at the Bibliothèque nationale de France: setting up and processing of the collection

A rich collection of digitised still photographs has been available for consultation in the reading rooms of the Bibliothèque nationale de France since the opening of the Tolbiac site in December 1996. This collection has been built up thanks to the Bibliothèque nationale's collections of still photographs, but also thanks to various public and private French collections. It is based on strong central themes reflecting the documentary policy of the institution, and places a particular emphasis on newspaper photographs. Thus the institution is offering readers the opportunity to consult printed and audiovisual collections that complement one another.
