Training Trainers: the Experience of the URFIST of Toulouse

A brief history explains how the URFIST (Unité régionale de formation à l'information scientifique et technique) of Toulouse came to conceive a training programme for trainers in the use of documentation resources on university campuses, and how this training has been put in place between 1995 and 1998, across different stages, concerning the didacticism of ist (information scientifique et technique) and the passage from professional to teachable knowledge. Part of our reflections are on this teaching, and, applying the theory of situated cognition and the conversion of knowledge, we present a model of the process of putting training into place in ist. We propose two tools aimed at teachers, which offer them a conceptual and practical guide for putting their training to work.
