Henri-Jean Martin, Librarian, Professor and Scholar
The singular character of Henri-Jean Martin was to have been and to remain at once and fully a great librarian, a great teacher and a great researcher ; three facets which reinforce each other, and from which he has known, better than anyone else, how to nurture a very close relationship with books. This paper presents the text of the speech given on the 13th May 1997 in the halls of the education offices of Paris, on the occasion of the presentation of a miscellany to Henri-Jean Martin.
