For sex, see librarian : censorship and libraries in the United States of America

Madonna's recent book Sex gave rise to new discussions about censorship among American librarians. In spite of its limited interest, this book unleashed passions. Towns, librarians and readers found the opportunity to express themselves about it and more generally about censorship in the libraries. During the ALA congresses (1992 and 1993), American librarians once more demonstrated their attachment to freedom of expression.
