Opening the frontiers : the impact on East German libraries

The union, in October 1990 the 3rd, of the Democratic German Republic to the Federal German Republic has had a lot of effects on the well-structured network of East-German libraries. The stock, specially the stock of public libraries, must be renewed and updated. Programmes of financial support to acquisition and to computerised equipment will be carried out by Federal Govemment, Länder and private Foundations. Personalized help and support of Western, European, American and Canadian make this change process easier.
