Libraries bring PRESTEL to the public. A fitting

Here is a presentation of PRESTEL experiment with quotations of J. Readfearn's book Libraries bring PRESTEL to the public. Between 1979 and 1981, public libraries have been supplied with terminals placed at the public's disposal. They have also been involved in the creation of a local information bank service. This study reveals that the best use of PRESTEL is made by non-specialized information services, while a selective use is made by various social groups. The impact of PRESTEL was limited, most of all because the system was not answering enough to the users' needs.
