In a decree dated 30 January 1980, the Centre national des lettres was defined again with increased resources. In this article, are shortly described the Centre, its structure and its means. Special attention is given to current policy and recent action, in the following fields : assistance to literary creation and to authors, help to cultural activities and journals, help to publishing, to public libraries and book promotion, help to translations and social assistance to authors
