From a Cultural to a Democratic Institution. Inevitable Transition: The Citizen's Opening of the Public Libraries of Quebec

Through the citizen's mission, the author takes a broad look at the library system in Quebec; its structure, laws, norms and the mission devolved upon the libraries. A brief history is outlined. Certain curbs on this citizen's opening of libraries are tackled, as is the commercial influence on the mission objectives of Quebec's libraries. Some references are made to the mission of certain libraries.
