The Caledonian Documentation Network

The Caledonian documentation network (Redocal) groups around the server of the Bernheim library, a public establishment of New Caledonia, thirteen libraries in territories sometimes very distant and isolated. Redocal is part of a programme of re-balancing required by the Accords de Matignon, then by the Accord de Nouméa, a programme seen as a way of training young Caledonian librarians, to help local employment, to favour distant sites with access to documentary resources, on the mainland as well as the islands, to share the cataloguing and indexing. Also, it constitutes a union catalogue on a countrywide scale allowing a document to be identified, located and reserved.
