Towards new relations between the Government and the University : the contract policy
Since May 1989, the French ministry of Education issued a new policy on higher education, mainly based on the concept of a four year contract between universities and the State. The article describes the aims of this policy, the main features of the contracts and the particular consequences for university libraries and documentation.
