Within the French university library network, the Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire in Strasbourg has special responsibility for acquiring and distributing works in the field of religious studies. As such, it has a certain reputation for staging exhibitions on the topic. The article discusses three recent exhibitions presenting issues in theology, a field of minor interest in contemporary society. Drawing on the library’s own holdings and those of its partners, the exhibitions explored the issues from a purely academic standpoint, avoiding any particular denominational approach. They were designed specifically with the need to introduce scholarly research to a non-specialist public in mind.
