Idea Stores: a new approach to libraries and access to knowledge

Idea Stores came out of the desire to combine a library and an education centre in a district of London whose very diverse populations did not frequent these places a great deal. Thanks to their strategy aimed at winning back the public – choosing the best locations, stimulating architecture and design, very wide opening hours –, their flexible rules – noise and the consumption of food and drinks are permitted –, their wish to attract all communities, and the wide range of services and activities on offer, they met with immediate and impressive success.
