Library and information science education: European cooperation – melting pot or castles in the air?

There are many disparities between the institutions offering education and training for the library and information professions (organisation, level of recruitment, content) in Europe, but their equivalent university level and the common EU context governing them (the Bologna process) enable them to work together. Partnerships and mobility between establishments are facilitated through the Erasmus programmes, and collaboration is developing between professional associations, particularly thanks to the action of EUCLID.
