National librarian, regional librarian : two systems of reference, one career
The systems of reference for the library profession, published by the regional civil service in 2003 and the state civil service (Bibliofil') in 2005, are amongst those rare tools which allow the measurement of divergences and convergences between the two public sectors. The objectives aimed for and the methods employed for the elaboration of the two reference systems testify to the different approaches to librarianship as a career, even if at heart it's the same career.
