Latvia: a library tradition over five hundred years old
The National Library of Latvia is dedicated above all to collecting and preserving Latvian literature. It has begun to digitize its valuable and rare books collection. It cooperates with the Latvian library network which has undergone major reforms since the 1990s. Due to shortage of space in dispersed sites, it is putting all its hopes in a new building project by the architect Gunnar Birkets.
